United for Progress since 1943

The New Jersey Council of the Blind invites you to join us and help to work for the betterment of all blind and visually impaired people. Bring us your concerns and ideas. Together we may find solutions and promote the welfare of all blind people. Often, improvements aren't made without the support of individuals uniting for change. Join us, be taken seriously and we will move forward together! Read on to learn about our activities, publications and assistance.

Local Meetings

Be our guest at one of our local chapter meetings. You will find a list of local chapters at the end of this brochure. At chapter meetings, you will hear from interesting speakers, make new friends and, once you become a member, participate in Council business at the grass roots level.

Special Interest Chapters

The NJCB has a chapter for guide dog users as a special interest chapter. If you wish to start a special interest group, for example, blind college and trade school students, blind vendors, visually impaired individuals, parents of visually impaired children, blind seniors or blind computer users, we are committed to working with you.

State Convention

Come to our biennial convention (held on even numbered years in October) to learn about assistive technology, helpful programs and useful products and services from major speakers and each other! You will also have the opportunity to network with other blind individuals and relax among new acquaintances. Members also participate in the election of officers and in the determination of Council policy.

Publications

As a member, you will receive The Chronicle, a quarterly newsletter full of articles and interviews of interest to you. The newsletter is also used to communicate information about the New Jersey Council of the Blind and its chapters' activities. In addition, you will receive The Braille Forum, a monthly publication of our national organization, the American Council of the Blind. The Braille Forum contains a great deal of information for blind and visually impaired readers, as well as updates on ACB business and national legislation which other! You will also have the opportunity to network with other blind individuals and relax among new acquaintances. Members also participate in the election of officers and in the determination of Council policy.
